Non-member applications are subject to review before acceptance. The Secretariat will apply the correct fee.

Accommodation

You are responsible for your own hotel reservation.

Amsterdam has lots of hotel chains such as NH HotelsRadissonMotel ONE or IBIS and NOVOTEL hotels.   You may also be interested in the experience of Skotel, a (3 star hotel) of a hotel management school.  We also always advise to check accommodation platforms  such as booking.com for best deals based on your travel dates, although it is often also worth checking the aggregator’s rates with the hotel’s own rates before finalising your booking.

We advise to book early since June is a very busy time of the year in Amsterdam and hotels get very full early on.

Meals and Social Programme Information

  • Lunches will be taken at the times indicated in the main programme at the University
  • Details about the networking reception and buffet dinner on the Wednesday evening plus the Conference Dinner on Thursday evening will be sent via email to registered participants.

Please inform the HUMANE secretariat about any special dietary requirements as soon as possible by filling in the link (which will be sent to you upon confirmation of your registration) to the Secretariat.

Phishing and email scams

There is an increasing trend for seminars and events to be targeted by phishing and email scams. If you do receive any communication that looks suspicious please contact the HUMANE Secretariat. HUMANE never works with or promotes any third party travel companies in its seminar organisation.

How to reach Amsterdam

From Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam

By taxi:

You can get a taxi just outside the main hall of the airport. It should cost you about 50-60 euro to get from the airport to the centre of Amsterdam. Make sure to check the costs with the taxi driver beforehand. As in all airports, please only use official taxis from the official taxi rank. Please avoid unofficial taxis (without the official blue number plate and tariff list).

By train:

The main hall of Schiphol Airport also functions as a shopping area and train station. You can buy train tickets to the Amsterdam central station at the various yellow ticket machines in the main hall or at the ticket counter. You pay more at the ticket counter! The ride takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

From Amsterdam central station several means of transport (tram, metro, taxi, rental bike) are available for the onward transfer to the hotel of your choice.

You can find more information about routes via public transportation here. Information about tickets and the OV-chipkaart for public transportation can be found here.

It is also possible to check in and out using your contactless debit card, credit card or mobile phone.
