HUMANE Seminar Ghent (BE), April 24-25, 2015

Research and Education After Severe Budget Cuts

Universities all over Europe are confronted with budget cuts, many of them -especially in the southern and eastern part of Europe- even with severe cuts. How can we keep up the main processes of education and research after the loss of a considerable part of the budget? Should we look for money from outside the usual sources, for example industry, funds, paying students? Is it possible to keep up the standards we were used to? Can we learn from good practice elsewhere? These topics were discussed in the HUMANE seminar, which took place at the University of Ghent (BE).
