Specific goals 

The Winter School develops the leadership capability of senior managers on the core theme of managing changes in strategy and policy.  The case material focusses on internationalisation strategy and policy choices and approaches, and their implications for professional services across faculties, schools and central support departments.   


Thematic Sessions on internationalisation trends, impact assessment, strategy, governance and management     


Practicing strategy appraisal and formulation, 


Exercising leadership & collaboration skills around case studies, and the communication skills needed to enact change

Programme delivery 

These four themes are developed through strategic conversations with highly experienced leaders and managers in higher education, practical casework and highly interactive team building sessions.  

Throughout the week participants work with peers from other institutions on the internationalisation strategy of two case universities, appraising their strategy and offering alternative directions.

School Fee

The fee for the week-long programme will be €3,790 for HUMANE Members (€4,290 for non-HUMANE members). It includes fees for tuition, all documentation and accommodation in a central Barcelona hotel but excludes travel costs.
