Towards a Global University: Change and Challenge

Cardiff University is an ambitious and innovative university with a bold strategic vision located in a beautiful and thriving capital city. Driven by creativity and curiosity, the University is working to fulfil its social, cultural and economic obligations to Cardiff, Wales and the world. The University operates in two languages – Welsh and English and has more than 6,000 staff and a total income in 2013/14 of £456 million.

Cardiff University is one of the UK’s Russell Group of research intensive universities, with an ambitious global strategy, highly rated research, an international staff and student community .  As the leading university in Wales, based in the capital city, it also has a significant regional role.

The University’s strategic direction is set out in “The Way Forward” which says that by 2017 it “…will consistently be among the top 100 universities in the world. As importantly, Cardiff University will be recognised as an international university that is of benefit to Wales.” This strategy is supported by an ambitious investment programme – the Estates Masterplan - that will transform and revitalise the physical infrastructure.

Presentations will focus on the University’s vision, an assessment of what has been achieved so far and how best to structure the future realisation of the ambition. There will also be a particular focus on how Professional Services can support and sustain this global vision.
